Privacy Policy

The Data Protection (Privacy of Personal Information) Act 2003 is an Act to protect the privacy of individuals in relation to personal data and to regulate the collection, processing, keeping, use and disclosure of certain information relating to individuals and to provide for matters incidental there to or connected there with.

In order to arrange insurance coverage on your behalf Insurance Management (Bahamas) Limited, here in after referred to as IMB, will collect Personal Data and in some cases Sensitive Personal Data from you. By disclosing your Data to IMB you indicate your consent to the collection, storage, processing and use of your Data by us as described in this Statement.

Examples of the actual or possible uses of your Data are: processing your insurance application, processing claims, statistical analysis, underwriting purposes, fraud prevention, market research, risk management and provision of advice.

IMB considers your Data to be private and confidential. Your Data will at all times be held securely and in accordance with all principles of Bahamian Law.

IMB may sometimes share your Data, for insurance purposes, with related companies, subsidiaries, employees, officers, directors, sub-agents, sales persons, advisors, auditors, regulatory bodies, industry associations, claims databases, mortgagees/loss payees, other insurance companies, reinsurers, brokers,
reinsurance brokers, or other service providers appointed by us in connection with the provision of services to you, for example; loss adjusters, surveyors, attorneys, medical practitioners, investigators and repair garages.

You are entitled to a copy of your Data held by us, for which we may charge a fee. We will provide you with a copy of the Data kept by us within 40 days after a request in writing. All requests should be addressed to the Data Controller, Insurance Management (Bahamas) Limited, Rosetta Street East, Nassau, Bahamas. If the information we hold about you is inaccurate, please let us know and we will make the necessary amendments. We will only hold on to your Data for as long as necessary for the purposes of; providing insurance products and related services to you; or if you cease to be an insured or do not become an insured, for the purposes of informing you of products or services offered by us in the future.

IMB reserves the right to change this Data Protection Act Statement from time to time in our sole discretion. If we make changes to this Statement we will notify you (for example, by publication at our website; www.insurancemanagementbahamas.com). If the changes are material, we will provide you additional, prominent notice as appropriate under the circumstances.
