A Career in Insurance
|
Insurance is a dynamic industry that will grow with the country providing many individuals with career opportunities.
Insurance organisations in the Bahamas come in many sizes ranging from very small offices employing only one or two people to companies that employ hundreds of staff. The larger offices require specialist staff in many areas of expertise including sales, information technology, accounting, administrative support, customer service and technical insurance services such as underwriting and claims handling.
Those who are interested in a career in insurance itself, rather than the support operations, generally start as a junior or trainee customer service representative where they initially gain knowledge of Home and Motor insurance for private individuals. They will help clients understand their insurance needs, explain their options and assist them in the purchase of appropriate insurance policies.
At
Insurance Management (Bahamas) Ltd it is expected that the staff
progress with the examinations of the Chartered Insurance Institute
leading to an internationally recognised professional qualification.
For more information on professional qualifications please visit the
web site of The Chartered Insurance Institute.
As knowledge of the products develops opportunities will present themselves to branch out into the different career paths such as handling claims or dealing with commercial insurances.
